The Story

Vehicle Specifications

  • Engine Code: 2JZ-GE VVTi

  • Displacement: 3.0 Liter (2,997cc)

  • Configuration: Inline 6-Cylinder

  • Valvetrain: DOHC 24-Valve with VVTi (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence)

  • Timing Drive: Timing Belt Driven (Interference Engine)

Vehicle Fitments

  • 1998–2000 Lexus SC300 (Z30 Chassis)

  • Note: This engine is the Japanese market equivalent of the North American GE VVTi. While mechanically identical in most aspects, external bolt-on components may vary.

Included Parts

  • Complete Engine Long Block (Block and VVTi Cylinder Head)

  • Intake Manifold & Throttle Body (Electronic Throttle Control / DBW)

  • Fuel Rails & Fuel Injectors

  • Coil-on-Plug Ignition System

  • Alternator, AC Compressor, & Power Steering Pump

  • Water Pump & All Internal Timing Components (Belt, Tensioner, Idler)

Installation & Notes

  • USDM Swap: To ensure 100% plug-and-play compatibility with your vehicle's ECU and harness, you must transfer all your original USDM engine wiring harness and all accessories. JDM harnesses are often cut or pinned differently for Right-Hand Drive (RHD) configurations.

  • Oil Pan Compatibility: The Toyota Aristo uses a Front Sump oil pan. If you are installing this into a Lexus IS300 (which requires a Mid Sump) or an SC300 (which requires a Rear Sump), you must swap your original oil pan and oil pickup tube onto the JDM block.

  • VVTi Maintenance: It is highly recommended to inspect or replace the VVTi solenoid filter and the VVTi cam gear O-ring, as these are common leak and failure points on high-mileage 2JZ engines.

  • Service: Since this is an interference engine, a new Timing Belt Kit, Water Pump, and Rear Main Seal should be installed prior to dropping the engine in.
