Vehicle Fitment
This 2GR-FE JDM Long Block is a direct replacement for the following USDM models:
-
2008-2016 Toyota Highlander (3.5L Non-Hybrid)
Installation & Technical Notes
To ensure 100% compatibility and avoid Check Engine Lights (CEL), follow these JDM-to-USDM conversion steps:
-
The Long Block Rule: This engine is sold as a Long Block (Block and Heads). You must transfer your original USDM intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, sensors (Crank/Cam), and wiring harness.
-
Oil Cooler Note: Some Highlander models come with an external oil cooler. If your original engine has one, ensure you swap the oil filter housing/cooler assembly to this JDM block. (Secondary Oil Pan May Need To Be Swapped)
-
Emissions & Vacuum: Use your original USDM throttle body and vacuum lines to maintain factory emissions standards and ensure proper idle relearn.
-
Essential Maintenance (Pre-Install):
-
Water Pump: This is a known service item on the 2GR-FE; it is much easier to replace while the engine is out.
-
Spark Plugs: Replace with Denso FK20HR11 Iridium plugs.
-
Seals: Replace the Rear Main Seal and Front Crank Seal.
-
VVT-i Lines: Inspect the VVT-i oil lines; if they are the older rubber style, upgrade to the all-metal Toyota OEM lines.
-
-
Fluid Capacity: Requires approximately 6.4 quarts of 0W-20 or 5W-30 synthetic oil (verify according to your original oil cap).
