Vehicle Fitments
This JDM 1JZ-GTE swap kit is a popular "drop-in" or "custom-mount" solution for the following North American (USDM) models:
-
1992-2000 Lexus SC300 (Direct fit with JZZ30 mounts)
-
1986.5-1992 Toyota Supra (MK3) (Requires R154 conversion parts)
-
2001-2005 Lexus IS300 (Custom mounts and wiring required)
-
1989-1998 Nissan 240SX (S13/S14) (Requires aftermarket swap mounts and driveshaft)
Note: This is a front-sump/mid-sump configuration depending on the donor vehicle. Please verify your chassis oil pan requirements prior to purchase.
Installation & Technical Notes
The 1JZ-GTE is a tuner's dream, but 30-year-old electronics require precision. To ensure a successful startup and maintain warranty coverage, follow these guidelines:
-
Wiring Harness & ECU: This package includes the JDM ECU and engine harness. Note: JDM harnesses are RHD (Right Hand Drive). For LHD USDM chassis, harness extension or an aftermarket "Plug-and-Play" harness is highly recommended to avoid firewall interference.
-
R154 Transmission Prep: The R154 is a heavy-duty box, but we recommend replacing the throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, and clutch disc before installation. Check the shifter housing length (Tripod vs. Direct) to ensure it clears your center console.
-
Twin Turbo Inspection: Inspect the CT12A turbochargers for shaft play. Because these use ceramic exhaust wheels, avoid exceeding 14.5 PSI (1.0 bar) on stock turbos to prevent wheel shattering.
-
Essential Maintenance: We strongly recommend replacing the following "While-You're-In-There" parts:
-
Timing Belt & Tensioner: Replace with a Gates Racing or OEM Toyota belt.
-
Water Pump: Replace with the "1JZ/2JZ" specific metal impeller pump.
-
Valve Cover Gaskets: These are prone to leaking oil into the spark plug valleys over time.
-
Spark Plugs: NGK BKR7E (Gap at .028") for stock to moderate boost.
-
-
Fueling: This engine requires a high-flow aftermarket fuel pump (Walbro 255/AEM 340) and 91+ Octane fuel to prevent detonation under boost.
